Is this a current air products cylinder , or obsolete ?

Current, 99% sure on this. I used to use them then went to air liquid. Cougar 5 is 5% argon in CO2 if I remember. If the bar code doesn't match what you have had off them already they might not fill it and/or kick off if the sticker is missing. Best of luck!

how do air products bar code their cylinders ?

BOC used to be a clipped on plastic collar.

It looks like a pretty old cylinder, but the gas is still current.
They are grey and green now.
They use stick on bar codes on the neck.

Current cylinder, have one with the top chopped off down the workshop. They wouldn't take it back in as I didn't have an account and the label was almost all missing, although you could still make out it was their cylinder.

Told them of my intentions and was informed it was a criminal offense, so reiterated they needed to collect it then, which they told me they didn't do.

Long story short, I've got half a cannon made..

Air Products still do the Cougar 5 I think? Used to use it years back. Now use the 300 bar Ferromaxx 15. They last ages.

I'm sorry to resurrect this thread but I used to work for AP up until about five years ago. That cylinder in the picture was a current one and there are still thousands out there. They were slowly repainting them all in the new grey/green colours as they came in for safety checks. The sticker on them with the numbers on is the stock code, there's two, one's a full code the other empty. They were experimenting with individual bar codes so each cylinder could be tracked(thus avoiding people acquiring cylinders and getting them refilled at a mate's engineering works ), but I don't know if they have actually implemented it yet. Anyone know???

Air products are still going, my local uses them. but its an old colour coding. So it is obsolete Mine is Teal (for Argon) with a green shoulder ( Argon/Inert )

A white shoulder is now O2. It maybe was used because it does contain some oxygen. Has it a white band round the middle?

I wouldn't get hung up on the cylinder colours as the gas companies haven't got round to re painting all their cylinders yet and the colours are going to be changing again. Only way to be 100% sure what is in the cylinders is by what is written on the label
