Air Pit jack extension bars

Just moved into the new build ,we have three HGV pits . The jacks work fine but need a wee bit more height ,what would be a suitable material for making extension bars . the existing bars are 60mm od 150mm long with male and female dowels on either end .

What length extension do you want? The taller you go, the less stable it will be.

Find the manufacturer of the jack and see what they offer. If you copy what they do, it will be a proven, engineered design.

60mm dia. mild steel and a lathe?

Male and female both ends or male one end and female the other end?

As an alternative, thick wall tube of the correct ID to form the female part and then weld in a smaller slug of material to form the male dowel.
