Agm batteries from eBay seller 'surplusamps'

I was just wondering if anyone on here has ever purchased ex data centre AGM batteries from surplusamps on ebay?

I did not in the end. My requirement changed. All I would say is, go down there and test them, don't pay too much for them

They’re used lead acids, they could be complete scrap... the only way to tell is to test them...

I agree with you on that, I just thought you "knew something" but didn't want to break any rules by slagging off the seller.

That's only just run in!, have AGM/solar running all the under 500W stuff in the shed, always looking for more .
I'm in Mid Wales too.

But as HughF said they need testing/checking first over buying blind from anywhere you don't know.

I have often used them. Usually they are fine.
For a solar project though forklift batteries are the way to go!

These batteries need impedance testing really, bunging a DMM across the terminals ain’t gonna tell you much.

Data centres use batteries designed for stand by use. They want to sit on a float charge in an air conditioned room. Using these for cycling applications will see them fail in short order.

If you still look for some then try and find Enersys brand, these are a step above the Yuasa/Fiamm/Exide and way above most American made cells, Dynasty etc

The enersys powersafe are what I use in the camper... given good service so far. I cycle them to 50 percent dod

Good choice, probably the best data centre battery. These are supplied by premium manufacturers like Piller UPS and tend to only be upgrade options with the larger UPS suppliers, Emerson, Schneider, Socomec etc.
