After a plasma, cash any day, but stuck on which!

I've just joined the oxford mig club, and returned my ct312 POS plasma cutter.

I'm looking at something uk based with warranty.

My use will be hobby based, I have more than enough air, and besides building a 1.4m wide brake press I don't envisage cutting over 6mm very often.

Most use will be on rusty landrovers, chassis etc etc. so I believe pilot arc is a must?

I have narrowed it down I think to :-

R-tech p50h. It's overkill, but a 2 year warranty, down the road from me, and comes with loads of spares. I can have one for £575 ish. As I have a few bits to take back.

A versa cut 40a from frosts, £375. I just don like it that it has the same pcb's that china pos had, but seems great value. 1 year warranty. Don't think it auto restarts. Required?

Tec arc 36i but really stretching the budget. Couldn't find the warranty info.

Advise please! I'm really not sure what to do!

Yep, it's a monster of a machine. It's a shame the 30 doesn't have pilot arc, as that would be ideal.

Plasmapart do a few as well, but pilot arc puts their prices in the same ballpark as these, although you can get the 40 and save a few bob there.

I also have the Eastwood, gets a hard life and never let me down, their ( Frosts) consumables are expensive, but they are the same torch as the Cebora CP 50 which can be bought on line a lot cheaper, I got mine from Thomas at Plasmapart

R-Tech always get good reviews from our forum members, also their back up service ais rated as excellent, It is more money but as the old saying goes, A good big one is always better than a good little one.

I have the plasma part cut40 pilot pro, there seems to be an awful lot of people buying plasma cutters at the moment. I'm really happy with my choice I've had excellent backup from them and consumables have been great. I wrote a few long replies detailing everything a few weeks ago i will try and find a link.

Thanks chaps. I went with the Eastwood. The r-tech whilst a lovely unit is overkill and still nearly double the price. I needed the pilot arc, so the Eastwood fits the bill.

I thought is saw mention of it having a 3 year warranty!?

Also I only have at best a 16a supply, and don't want to have to put in a 32a at the premises etc. can't wait to get started, I've got masses to do!

Once I've built the huge brake press, it's onto the barrel blaster, and then the big one for me which is the range rover classic front end in stainless steel with probably a removeable front!
