At the moment I'm a car technican been doing it now for 9 years and I was working at same garage for about 5 years. I started to get bored with the job and thought it was the place so I got a new job and have been there about 3 months. The thing is I have realised it wasn't the place it the jobs itself. I think it's now time to change my career but I don't really know were to go or what to do. Anybody got any ideas or suggestions.

know what you mean winter comes along cars coming in dripping cold dirty but what do you do you still need an income stick at until your certain that youve found something you like

thought of joining AA/RAC as a patrol?
If you still have an interest in cars you could look at a job with a Motorsport team ?
Down side, everything tends to be against the clock, even in the workshop, lots of the work is checking and double checking, the same things are always needing attention, lots or routine stripping and rebuilding, frequent crash repairs, early starts at race weekends, few weekends off in season, effort during a meeting can be relentless.
Upside, grid girls, meeting personalities, always meeting new people, seeing all the different circuits, fantastic sense of achievement when the team is doing well, prospects for developing special skills, prospects for career development, involvement in a dynamic and exciting environment, .
Ultimately most jobs become routine, even motorsport ! I know aircraft techs who are bored rigid with their job !
Jobs that aren't boring tend to be creative, I've noticed that the pro welders on this forum seem to be a contented lot !!

Join the TA as a REME mechanic.. they are looking for canon fodder to send out around the world to repair kit under fire.
No two jobs the same and there is quite a bit of excitement ..if that bores you add IED sweeper and demolition skills to your portfolio, the other guys will just love having you around.
Do a couple of tours every three years or so and you'll be happy to come back to that boring old wet cold garage to get your breath back for 12 months or so.

If your the right side of 30 and no ties why not clear off to Austrailia or New Zealand, auto techs are firmly on the wanted list, a different culture and way of life and work ethics MAY be the answer.
You would still be spanner bashing, but in a different country and way of life.
