I’m new here and have lots of questions!
I’ve been Tig welding for around 5 years, reasonably good at Stainless & Aluminium, aluminium took a long time to learn but none of my welded peices have failed….so far/yet
I’m at the stage now where I really want to fine tune my abilities, I’ve never had proper training so I’ve just practiced & tried the various settings based on rough advice from just about every man and his dog, no 2 people say the same!
I’d like to know the rough basic ideal has flow for SS & Ally, 90% of what I do is aluminium intercooler pipes, intercooler and so on adjustments. I can only give very basic info as I’ve tried so many things and listened to so many people, if it helps;
1.6mm wall thickness aluminium pipes
Sip HG2500P machine
White tungsten
Approx 2mm ish filler
130 amps regulated by the pedal, ran off of an 8kw diesel generator
7 seconds post flow, 1.5 pre
Standard Number 5 cup with a gas lens, I need to learn much more about the various cups etc
Gas flow - I can’t say as I can’t remember if my gauge is CFM or CFH etc
It’s fair to say I’ve got a reasonable grasp off the controls, I can acheive most things, not pretty but they hold!
You could say ameteur with a bit of torch time already.
I’m happy to take criticism, that’s how we learn, but looking for good advice
