In a company that I used to work at, the lifting ring on a set of chains would have the SWL on it.
I have various single lengths of chain in the garage, and wondered if there was a way to identify (or calculate) the lifting/pulling capacity of them. I would naturally assume that the heavier the link, the stronger it is. But, what if the chain had originally been made for barrier type purposes, as opposed to lifting something?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
