Advice on what welder to buy

I have a steel boat and I need to weld everything from stainless steel tubing to 6mm mild steel plate. Is there a single welder that would cover this or would I need to buy more than one? If so, what would you recommend?

I think he built himself a steel boat, if anyone knows its him.

Simon has a combination of machines (300amp industrial MIG, Inverters etc.); if it needed to be done within a budget from one machine I would go for a decent DC Inverter machine... MMA (stick) for the 6mm stuff & TIG for the more intricate s/steel work.

Welder advice

Thanks for the advice. How much should I be looking at for a decent but not top of the range SMA welder of the kind you describe?
