advice on buying a welder

I want to buy a welder to assist me in a home project; I am hoping to make some bespoke railings to go around my garden wall.

I can hear what people are thinking, that will need some experience. I served an apprenticeship in sheet metal work and welding but left the trade about 17 years ago.

Since then new machines have come on the market such as MIG welders that don’t need gas. I have stick welder, but it isn’t versatile enough for this work.

My question to you all out there is what would be a good welder to use in my garage, to weld finials on to 12mm Dia. bar and 6 mm flat bar, gasless or old fashioned Co2 and what make would you recommend.

A MIG setup, around the 180a-200a mark, running a gas, such as Coogar5/Argoshield light. Much better results than gasless setups.

might sound cheap, but looking about £200 to £250 or less if that is possible

myt be better den to buy an inverter and a good box of rods, and you will get pleasing results with dc current ??
