I have a customer who was persuaded to invest in a small blacksmith type operation. It all went wrong, and it was really furniture made from off the shelf components migged together, though some of it is pretty decent for that kind of thing. Long story short, my poor customer is left with piles of ironwork/furniture which was poorly laquered and is now rusting around all the welds etc. The task is to strip it and recoat it so it can be sold and some money recouped. My first instinct is a caustic bath, but some of the pieces being on the large side, this may not be practical. Any thoughts? And assuming it is possible to do it fairly easily, what would we all recommend for a protective coating? Many thanks,
Julian
