I want to run my wiper moter on a mains fed power suply ive been told they run up to 14amps and also i need it to reverce aswell can anyone point me in the right direction please i have been useing a bike battery and a charger and has worked well but i think it is now time to change

Cb power supply or old style battery charger will supply the amperage.
To reverse the motor, you generally just swap over the connections.
To do this safely, you need a double throw switch that disconnects both cables before reconnecting the other way round.

If the former then as Bigegg says, swap the wires,

If the latter you swap either the field coil or the armature, not both. Is it single speed?

If not and if the speed is altered by a resistor then no problem, do as above.

If the speed is altered by tapped field coils or a third brush it could be awkward. If a third brush swap the field coil connections, if a tapped field coil swap the brush connections.

The type of switch you need is called "break before make", most switches out there are this type.

It's a wiper motor DC so will reverse anyway

Only if it's a permanent magnet. The back & forth motion is produced by a crank, not by reversing the motor (on all the one's I've seen anyway)

should have wrote it better , should have said i havnt seen a wiper motor that you cant reverse ive used a few over the years for various bits and bobs

i would have used the window switch or car roof light switch found with electric windows or the sunroof as its center point is not connected to anything

Are you using it for a power feed on your milling machine table ? It might be a bit much for the motor ?

I bought a wiper motor for a table feed too. They are ideal.. High power, dual speed and reversible. Never did get around to fitting it mind!

yes they are normally off, this shows how they work

you can also use a limit switch's as well if your using relays and if using them you can also set the relays so its stops at a certain point as long as your relay can move on a bar
