Advice for welding H13

When I get a bit more used to TIG I will be welding H13 normally about 45rc.

is there anything specific I should do I believe pre heating is very important if so what temp should it be heated to and what are the effects if not done or done correctly.
is there anything that can be done to help reduce the sink around the edges?

Preheat recommendations vary some depending on what's being done. One suppliers general recommendations... http://www.westyorkssteel.com/H13.html
Weld order can help reduce sink. If say building up an edge you first run a small, cool bead just outboard of the missing/damaged edge(s) and then do the repair welding to those 'sink beads'.
