Advice for potential beginner

I'm looking at buying a 3d printer..
But I can break a computer @50m...
I understand I can 3d scan an item using a mobile phone, how idiot proof is this?
One of the things I'd like to make is this wheel centre cap, am I being realistic?

That can definitely be printed, but I have no experience of the phone based scanners.

It wouldn't be too hard to draw in something like fusion after a few tutorials on YouTube...there is 1 channel I can never remember the name of that shows virtually everything step by step

Possibly, the one I'm thinking of did a 30 piece series starting with basics like extruding then moved to embossing, lifting and sorting so, then did some sheet metal stuff as well I think

Some of Lars' tutorials are very good, some a bit tedious IMHO.

Yes, the Lego block brings it all back now...I think he also did a glass bottle, a hex nut, a door wedge and other bits
