One for the hive mind.

Had a new cushioned vinyl floor fitted and then accidentally dug a scallop out of it it's only about 10mm square but in an obvious place so stands out. I want to glue the chip back in, but as this is going to be a "one shot" job I want to make sure I use the right adhesive for the job first time.

Google throws up various options such as Vinyl repair or contact adhesive but I don't want to use a product that will melt the floor so over to the collective for suggestions, cheers.

Got any off cuts? Try a tester with simple Cyanoacrylate

Unfortunately not, the fitters did a good job of cleaning up and taking all the offcuts with them

If its in a kitchen, use the area behind the kickboards as a test area...

I'd go with cyno too.

Get wide sellotape and put it over the chip, line it up and smooth the tape down, peel from one side so it lifts but the sellotape stays stuck. Apply the glue then lay it back down with the tape. It should align easily.

Good call, but the fitters did a cracking job butting it up to the kickboards but you have given me an idea, pull the washing machine out and test on the vinyl under it

If the glue does not work, maybe find some touch up paint. Right now, it is probably the colour difference that your eye notices more than the pothole.

PTFE sheet.

An old curtain also works to slide stuff from A to B but you can't easily push it under things.

Cyanoacrylate (Superglue) just beware it isn't waterproof and will slowly degrade in moisture. Worth having a word with the people who fitted it and ask them what they would recommend / blag a bit off them.

there is a specific glue for vinyl repairs , they use it on car seats ,,, personally I would be looking at a contact adhesive like evostick but lift a kickboard and grab a wee bit from under the sink etc to have a play with first.

As far as I know a primer needs to be used before contact adhesive on vinyl. That's what I had to do for some car bits I was doing anyway.

Not messy celery. The issue comes from plasticiser migration, so it depends on the vinyl's plasticiser content. There are also dedicated contact adhesives for high plasticiser which can be used on their own, or as a pre treatment for other adhesives.
