Adaptor Kit

Does anyone know if you can use a 5Kg reel on a Lincoln 185 without needing an adaptor kit....doesn't mention it in the manual....

Does it have a small 5/8" bolt and nut in the center of the plastic reel? If so it should just unbolt and remove the bigger reel. Or you can build a simple adaptor...Bob

What size does it have now?

5kg should be normal unless it is set up for 15kg reels. That would require spacers.

aametalmaster, that is an adapter for 1kg reels.

The 5Kg reel should fit straight on,Same size ctr hole as the big reel.I only had to make an adapter for my machine but this is only needed if I want to use the 4" dia reels with the small 5/8" Ctr hole

Cheers gordon, I have usually run 15Kg spool of 0.8 but want to run 0.6 for a while for some gates and bird feeder stands, some something a bit finer...

Ok, here is the 5kg adapter weldequip sells.

They can be made easily. It is just a 2" ID spacer. I have used the hub from a roll of tape. On many machines a hose clamp will hold the reel in.
