Adaptor, Argon/mix gauges to CO2 pub bottle

Possibly a long shot, but has anyone found a source of adaptors to fit Argon/mix gauges into pub bottles, which doesn't cost as much as a new set of CO2 gauges?

There's some on the bay but for their cost I may as well buy gauges. Failed to find any other sources.

Other than the £20+ adapters, there is this.
I would think it would just be a case of removing the argon stem from the reg and then fitting the new bit.

Might be more hassle than its worth and may end up having to buy a complete new reg.

Definately. Regulator inlet stems come in 1/4"BSP, 1/4"NPT, 27Tpi, 26Tpi, right hand thread, left hand thread...amongst others! depending on make & age of regulator

I bought one of those stem nut for argon reg to convert for co2.
Male thread was smaller i/d than female in reg so ended up unscrewing the argon stem out of reg, take the nut off new stem nut, slide nut over argon stem and screwed bullnose into co2 bottle fitting.
Admittedly not the right fittting but no leaks as bullnose sits nicely into pub bottle outlet and works ok.

CO2 gas cylinder valves rely on a gas-tight seal provided by a flat seat on the (correct) regulator stem. Argon/Argonmix cylinder valves have a cone seat - sealed by the 'bullnose' on the (correct) regulator stem. I'd be very surprised if you can get a true gas tight fit with that combination.
You are messing around with high pressure gases - buy the correct thing for the job!

i had the same issue and ended up buying the £30 adaptor. not really any way around it, well none i'd risk trying anyway :lol:
