I've got two trailers - tiny Erde 102 and 8'x4' flat bed. I also used to have a motorbike trailer but that was superseded by the flat bed.
Recently I fitted a (legal) towbar to my Smart Fortwo and would like the option of being able to use it to carry motorbikes on a trailer. The Smart has a limited legal towing capacity meaning the large and heavy flat bed with a bike is going to exceed the limit. My mind therefore is thinking of adapting the small Erde 102 to be able to carry one small / lightweight motorbike. The bike would be on a piece of folded top hat profile steel channel bolted to the trailer after the tailgate and front panel are removed. The drawbar would be extended accordingly. This would all be such that quickly adaptable to carry motorbike or be used a tip trip trailer.
Question is do people think it will be unstable seeing the wheel track is only 1m and the bike will be on a level of 45mm from the ground ?
Thanks.
