Actual Automotive Air Conditioning Drier Lifetimes

I'm replacing my ac condenser soon and was wondering about the drier. I guess they must have a finite life. Anyone know when they should be changed?

At 15 years and 136k miles I'm sure mine must need changing.

Maybe you should add in AC to the drier bit as i was expecting a rant about white goods

It should say AC drier lifetimes.

Doing this on my phone is a pita.

Whenever the system has been open to the atmosphere for any considerable time I believe.

They normally don't give a time for changing it but as others have said the recommendation is that if its being exposed to anything except refrigerant it should be replaced

If the system is open for some period of time or is completely empty of refrigerant then the drier should be replaced as it will be saturated beyond recovery.
