acid etch compatibility

I just bare metalled my bumpers then epoxy primed followed by grey cellulose filler primer then cellulose top coat. As this was my first attempt at cellulose top coat it didn't turn out too well and I had to sand some runs out and it went back to bare metal in a very small area.

Rather than mixing more epoxy I sprayed on some acid etch primer from a can. This has wrinkled up the paint underneath and I've now got a somewhat bigger area down to the metal.

What's the best way forward please?

mix up a small amount of epoxy then then as you did the first time.
you should have been able to remove the run without going through the top coat did you use a small block to flat the run ?

Many thanks, though I was hoping not to go though all that gun set up and clean out just for a couple of square centimetres. Just got to bite the bullet.

Yes I had a block but it was on a difficult curve so hard to avoid rubbing bits that didn't need it. A much smaller block is needed next time I think.

I use a slightly flexible Dura block on curves, works a treat. The etch will have attacked it, just blow in with the epoxy should do.

I have a little rubber cone bump stop that I found at the side of the road which is very handy for getting runs out with some wet and dry wrapped round it.
