AC TIG/Plasma combo/multi process welders

wondering what peoples thoughts are on these

from what I can make out the 3/4 in 1 welders don't get a lot of praise, compromises to get everything in one box, they're not mega expensive but they're not exactly cheap either! ie a seperate good quality plasma machine and decent AC TIG would cost more but probably not even double

I can only find 2 that do AC TIG and plasma...

I have a friend who purchased the Apex one about 4 months ago, i have not used it myself but he has used all of the options on it, welding and cutting and says it has been fine at everything, obviously no idea on longevity of it yet, he is also running it from a 13amp supply and its still cutting 3mm plate.

I own a Stahlwerk AC/DC tig similar machine to your second link and find it totally brilliant for the money. As for plasma cutter I also have a Stahlwerk 55S plasma cutter which I adore.. You will hear nay sayers on this forum regarding Stahlwerk machines but I adore both of mine. A couple of others on this forum also own Stahlwerk machines and think highly of them.

Yep I love my stahlwerk. I paid 650 euro for mine and for that it is brilliant. I'd run a mile from those combi machines. Buy a separate plasma unit. I'd bet that most of the faulty machines are the combi ones. If you are buying a stahlwerk tig they are actually made pretty well considering other Chinese welders. But remember they are still built cheap.
