ac/dc tig

Hi guys I'm in the market for an ac/dc tig welder as I got sick of smoking my parweld xti200 every time I Turn it on?I'm refusing to buy anything related to china after my bad experiences and Power is not essentila as I simply want a machine to weld sheet aluminium and stainless steel up to 5mm.

I have three machines in mind but welcome any other suggestions.I'm considering the solter aerotig 230 costing me 1800 euro.http://www.solter.com/catalog/product/18/AeroTIG_ACDC.html

and the cebora 150 ac/dc although a little under powered.even 10 more amps wud be nice but costing 1600 euro and 1 year warrenty worries me abit

I considered r-tec 160 or 200 because of its 2 year warrenty but I wudn't be happy with another chinese machine?my budget would be 2 grand and thats pushing it

that cebora is probably one of the only non chinese ac/dc machines for under €2000 isn't it? that jefferson has to be chinese, never heard of solter.

The solter 1 is made in spain and the guy supplying it Supplies all industrial equipment and it comes with a 2 year warrenty.I was also thinking about the miller diversion 165 but It has no settings and the leads are connected inside the machine and also I think it works on 60hz and mightn't work on our 50hz or might get damaged.

When you click on the

icon the box already has a http:// in it, you need to delete or overwrite that one. You didn't so your links had two which means it tries to find a page titled http:// and as you see if you try my link, it fails.

For the money you're looking at, I'd get a Lorch. Actually, I did, and it's a cracker.

Maybe it was the same price but in Sterling... Still worth a thought though!

It looks to be abit outside my budget tho!one website are asking 2500 sterling which would be alot for me at the mo.It looks impressive though

Of the top brands, you'll do well with all of them, me thinks. It is just that they are all very expensive new. An AC/DC that is rarely used (such as the two in the links) are very scarce. It is your best buy, though...

yeah I'm not familiar with the lorch as we don't have suppliers for them in Ireland that I can find but I can get a good deal on the solter 230 amp machine with pulse but I'm not sure of the quality of it.It comes with a 2 year warrenty and the quy supplying it supplies industrial equipment like haco iron workers, press brakes etc.I'm also thinking about cobera 150 amp ac/dc either.I know ferrari use them to make their cars so they can't be too bad but they might be just supporting the locals:laughing
I'm not looking for high amps at all just a good quality ac/dc machine at an affordable price for welding light guage alu and s/s on site and in the workshop.

The Lorch rigs are vewwie vewwie nooice. The HT I have is highly configurable for its price with tunability on the freq, balance and what not. The T machines even more so. They come with a 3 year warranty, 10 year parts availability guaranteed and are constructed bomb proof with filters and what not. I most certainly would recommend them. The top brands should all provide a decent warranty and parts availability. The tunability of the Lorch does seem better for its price than the competition. If you struggle to find a second hand rig (The AC/DC machines are usually worked to the ground and then thrown away, second hand rigs like in the links are proper hen's teeth) try the suppliers of A grade rigs for old models / demo models or ex rentals that are in good nick. If you can wait a while, see if they can source a decent trade model for you. BTW, my machine is a 180 and I have not maxed it yet, but the moment I do, I know that I will be cursing myself that it is not a 220...

Hi Pauli, just wondering which AC/DC tig set you went for. I'm tempted by the R-Tech 201, seems a good machine for the money. I've sent an enquiry to see if they ship to Ireland.

This guy is the irish r-tec supllier.They are meant to be a good machine and alot of big companies are using them appearently.This guy is very reasonable for the prices too.Much the same as the guys in the UK.I'm going for the kemppi myself because of the features and I'm getting a very good deal.other than that I would probably get the new r-tec digital model
