Pretty curious about how things are going in UK about cnc lasers , maybe the same as here , or maybe not ?
So let me explain things in detail . At the moment the italian government has released a new law called ' Industry 4.0 ' so for all those companies which are going to purchase a new generation cnc machine ( in this case lasers , plasmas , water jets ... ) it will automatically applied a sort of 'discount' on taxes ( I mean taxes that we got to pay in a year ) , approximately it's about 50% of the entire machine value .
So a lot of companies are going with new lasers , but unfortunately a great amount of those are going with chinese machines . China is getting smarter year after year , in the past it was possible only to import directly from there , with a lot of risk and no possibility of after sale support , problems with spare parts and so on . After some time they realized they need local distributors and a better client service , and it's happening everywhere in EU .
In Italy chinese lasers are growing like mushrooms , everywhere . A new fiber one ( 1,5*3 meters ) costs 250'000 euros + vat + transport , an european machine starts from 500'000 / 600'000 .
So it's clear that european manufacturers are having a problem , Trumpf declared that they lost approx. 16% on sheet lasers last year . Chinese still cannot reach quality , reliability and precision on very big machines and on tube lasers , but how long will it last ? Also they are not CE marked for real , but nobody cares , software and mechanics are poor too .
So what about the situation in UK ? Are we all going to eat rice for dinner in a decade or so ?
