was ordering A31 or A32 tig rods for a jab when the costumer said he could get then cheaper he got er80 rods whats the difference

What Al said. Er70, er80 etc are AWS (American welding society) designations while A15, A31, A32 etc are British standard designations

Note that 'stronger' typically goes hand in hand with less ductile (more brittle), stronger isn't always better and in many cases is actually worse due to the brittleness thing
If we're talking about rollcages again then you really need to read this http://www.netwelding.com/Welding%204130.htm and be wary of a lot of the stuff written about chromoly that's on the interweb as a lot of half truths and even nonsense is spouted

i always has the British standard designations not to much of the aws thats why i posted thanks guys
