A0 plotters

My trusty A0 plotter has died. Its a HP Designjet 750 which has stopped recognising that the cartridges are fitted. Someones coming out to have a look at it but i'm resigning myself to the fact that its not economical to repair.

An old machine by all accounts, not worth spending on to fix it.

Does anyone have much experience of these things..any recommendations on model/make to go for as a replacement?

I have an HP Designjet 750C myself. On occasions it has refused to acknowledge the presence of one or other cartridge. A cure has been effected by spraying the contact matrix with switch cleaner and carefully cleaning the contacts.

They may be old printers but I reckon they are still very good and eminently supportable. Also although theoretically not supported by Win7 infact I'm running mine on a Win7 machine. The service manual is around on the web to download.

Yes, their engineer emailed the instructions for properly cleaning the contacts. Didnt work unfortunately.

Probley like most inkjets the ribbon (milar) feeding connections to the head has cracked/broken down. Had a look on the bay.... 2 for spares/repair but in south east. 1 up your way 1 bid £100 reserve not met. Think listing said something about machine being overhauled (warranty then?) Rest that are "working" 250+ gawd.... If you have lots of cartridges for it (££ worth) then might be worth fixing/replacing (beter the devel you know.

Their engineer said that might be the problem, he also said it could be one of 8 other parts that have died.
