You'd just raise the cutter, scrape the slug sideways with a screwdriver, and carry on...All the suggestions for a Rotabroach are missing one thing: it is only 3mm material and as the cutter breaks through the slug will end up inside the tube. This means you won't be able to drill both sides in one setup* (two operations) but will need four operations to complete the work.
* as you lower the bit for the second side, you have a high chance of running into the loose slug and ruining the cutter.
