A welding question at long last more of a how 2 or better way

I'm building a guard we have sliding doors in the front room lucky it's the coolest room in the house when it gets hot but when we did not have the dog we could leave the door open the door at the back of the house and the temp would drop again by quite a few degrees now having the dog and the other half likes the place like fort knocks she worried a person could just walk in if there is no one in the room
So my idea was a metal frame with square mesh the the reason for this it's what I have lying around and its prob going to be thicker than what it needs but it's what I got

this is the idea the first drawing is the door and the red line where it's going to fit

The 2nd is the frame

Now to the questions I need to weld 2mm galv wire to the frame on the inside as it looks neater ? how would I do this

Mounting the frame so it can be removed and move like it's on a hinge so it can swing by 90 degrees my idea would be 2 L shaped screwed to the wall with bolts top and bottem than can be unscrewed ? This the best way to go ? Or are there better way to do it ?

And final question I'm hoping to spray it the frame is painted so that not a problem but can I paint galv with cheap spray paint ?

ok update will try to post a pic tonight ive welded the rest of the frame together and weled the galv wite to the frame i tryed to spot weld the wire to the frame but that did not work very well thin wire to thick frame so added 4 bars acress the frame layed the wire over that and welded the flats of the wire to the bar with a quick blast needs a bit of a clean up but im happy with it and its well strong

so now to the rest the way of attaching the frame to the wall hinged and that can be removed when not needed

and picked up some spray this morning primer and top coat white so looking at the spraying can the galv be sprayed over with out much problems

^^^ thought of them but its needs to be secure as when its open it cant be easy removed

if i used a bolt they would have to unscrew it and come with the tool to do it so preplaning

this is a bit all over the top as its only realy for 5 mins when otherhalf or me go make a coffee if much longer than that we would not leave it open

A battery angle grinder to cut your frame top and bottom, and I'd imagine the 2mm mesh will simply bend back out of their way? You'll not keep a determined thief out, irrespective of your [reasonable/sensible] precautions

i know if i was to get through it myself i would use foot long bolt cutters or even a good pair of snips would do it to get through the wire to enter but if its a case of just lift off hinges that requres no tools so no pre planing needed hence the security side of it

the main reason for this is keeping the dog in more than any thing but the dog seems to like the back of the house unless we are in the front room the dog seems to like the heat and out the back it's very warm she will stir if any noise is made so any power tools or braking in noise prob even lifting the gate would be enough and for a size dog she is she barks loud any one that comes to the back gate if she's out the back stand at the back gate and wait till we come out

no just for a coffee break or other half pops up stairs put washing away she knows the dogs safe and there wont any unwanted visitors

If the guard is in the frame then lift off hinges shouldn’t be able to be lifted off if the guard is a good fit in the frame. The only time the guard would be able to be lifted than would be when the guard was not in the frame unless I’m missing something

I'm hoping to make something that fits in these ends that would recive a bolt gate hinge to fix it to the wall

Could you drill & thread a plate to accept the hinge bolt, then weld the plate inside the box end?

^^^^beleve it or not that that was a fullsize 3 meter top that was given to me

the bloke had 2 more that i could of had for free and tryed to sort it out for the other halfs parents and fitted them free for them the father was all over it yes please got trodden on my the mum oh dont worry about it we dont need it


now if it needs doing i grab the tools go over with my arms full of stuff to do the job walk in the front room start setting up i get asked what you doing oh that painting of the fire place gray said about oh ok i get the reply

the father said its the only way to do it or nothing will get done

We have the same issue as the kitten isn’t going outside.

I’m going to use the sliding rail and copper 2” mesh as it won’t look like a prison. I was thinking about making it from 13mm copper and soldering it together just so it looks nicer

to be honest mine is to heavy but its what i had if it works great i can see me doing it again with the faults i have found when using it but in a bit smaller frame itss to stop the dog or people walking in do does not need to be that heavy but again its what i had

Update after what seamed like hours (the welding and spraying I enjoyed )

The cleaning up the welds even though it welded quite well was only and hour to clean the frame it took 2.5 hours just to make the brackets to mount the frame

to the wall
Most of this was all the pre thinking how it needs to be set up and pre thinking problems before putting up so it all went well

Most of the people on here know what to look out for but this is the first build more than a welding trolley there where many places where bars could not be

Making the hinges brackets would been easy if I had some bigger angle iron but did not have any so made up some brackets and filling in all the ends to make it look fair s

The white I needed it painted took more paint than I expected 8 quid worth in poundland spray paint the galv wire after a clean seaned to take the paint well
