A waste of perfectly good pressure gauges

The fit and finish is what bothers me. The stickers for the lights should be at the back, facing the wall. The screws holding the flange to the wall are horrible.

There are similar light fittings in our local cafe in town. The fit and finish is lacking there too. If these are in a public building I suspect the stickers need to be on show, but I agree that they detract from the overall appearance. Cross head screws don't help either - they aren't even colour matched. A quick touch with a black Sharpie would make them a bit less obvious.

Look hard at the pictures. Neither is a valve. Both are four way crosses. The red handwheel is screwed into the middle on one and into a square-headed plug on the other.

I see where your coming from, but I would say that there is a big difference between mass produced stuff such as what I originally posted and a members work such as @Parm, it’s not to my personal taste but I do appreciate it for the very evident thought and skill that has gone into it. I wouldn’t say any particular though or skill has gone into what I originally posted and they when looked at closely are evidently mass produced. I’m not one for nit picking but I don’t like people trying to pass stuff off as being made by a maker in a shed in the bottom of his or her garden that has had this great idea to make himself some extra dosh or even make his or her living from it. The original example I posted is big corporations taking away from those who need the money and have the ideas and the skills, and profiteering off the maker community and it’s image which will eventually mean it will be lost and people that rely on it for income won’t be able to support themselves through it which they should be offered a reasonable level of protection so they can do so.

The "pressure gauge" pretends to read in both psi and kg/cm2, but there is only one scale....

I just don't get this whole craze for bare unshaded light bulbs, especially non-matt bulbs with exposed filaments. It used to be that a bare bulb hanging on the end of a wire meant you could not afford or could not be bothered to fit a lampshade, and you didn't mind having your retinas scarred by looking at an exposed tungsten filament. Now thanks to LEDs the weak light output of Edison's 1879 carbon filament bulb can be simulated, for the convenience of myopic moles everywhere.

Seen alot of these type posts over the years, not just on here.
I've never seen the original posters say this is how you should do it or this is what I've done therefore I didn't know where the motivation came from
Jealousy, hate, disdain or just for a like. It just kills it for anyone who would like to show this type of creatibity.
It's not very encouraging to them or me I feel.

Thing is @selectedgrub your stuff is inventive, imaginative, resourceful and very entertaining to watch coming together. It is also very skilful. Assembling a few old fittings into a light fitting less so but at least it’s up-cycling and making use of otherwise waste components. When it turns out that those components are actually being manufactured from new to look like old components being recycled it’s getting a bit ridiculous. I really don’t like the style of those lights but each to their own in that respect. Passing off cheap new tat as up-cycled vintage is a bit of a joke.

For sale to a private person I would agree. But in a Pub situation. Who knows who changes the bulbs? They need to be able to see what they have to replace them with.
