Forgive me guys ... I'm not a welder (even in my wildest dreams!) but I was wondering whether anyone could offer any advice about a welding issue.
I make martingale collars for sighhounds and use 100s of D-rings in their construction. For safety reasons it's important that the D-rings are welded at the join ... and I had been getting stocks of these welded D-rings from a supplier in Manchester. Apparently they were imported from Italy, but unfortunately they are no longer available. I've found a firm in Newcastle who can supply absolutely wonderful D-rings ... but sadly they're not welded.
So my naive question is this: Do firms/individuals do 'freelance' welding? And is it likely that they'd consider a job of welding the joins on a couple of 100 D rings? The 'wire' is 3mm thickness and the 'flat part' is 40mm in length. I think they're made of nickel-plated steel.
I'm based in Merseyside ... so if anyone could suggest a local welder or firm that I could approach, that would be brill.
Bestest,
Paula.
