Firstly i think you should all stop arguing, It does not matter what bike you like, A 1000cc super sports bike, a V twin chopper, A tourer whatever. What does matter is that you share the same passion for riding as the person next to you on the road. You could pull in my drive with a 2007 latest jap offering or a single cylinder matchless from the 1940's, the result will always be the same, i will give you the respect you have earnt (and ask for a go lol)

I'm all for a bit of lively discussion - and even enjoy the hurling of insults but this Macho "My cock - sorry I mean bike - is bigger/better/longer/fatter/cleverer/ than yours", is really somewhat tedious. Anyway you've all missed out mentioning the best bike ever; Yamaha Passola, preferably in lime green.

S'cuse my complete ignorance Leanne, wot's a ground anchor? Is it in the pic? and how did you get on with the folding welding table project? any chance of a pic?

I think you'll find thats a red, white and rust Honda C70 my friend, (my only excursion onto 2 wheels when I was much younger, four wheels are much more comfortable and dry)

I'd second that, can't say i'd enjoy riding a bike at 10 o'clock on a rainy night down the M25, but whatever rocks your boat.

Unfortunately so many young kids have lost their lives on bikes where I live and its nearly always because they dont get seen by cars and because they are generally being ridden beyond the speed limit they cant slow quickly enough and well the rest is obvious.

These bikes are very fast and i'm not a killjoy but i've seen some bikes going up my road doing at least a 100mph where the road is a 30 now what if a car backs out a drive, there is no way that bike is going to be able to brake down to a speed where the impact will not cause serious injury.

Can you anyone honestly say that when you see a Jap bike above 600cc or so that they are not usually going very fast on it.

at least if you crash your bike, they dont have to cut you out of the wreckage..... a dustpan and brush will suffice.

I'm not a great fan of bikes, but my father in law has a Triumph and a Suzuki somethingorother. I did have a 50cc scooter not long after I moved in with my missus (it was great for when I worked in the city centre, and was cheaper than the bus - I never put more than £8 of unleaded in it ), but when I started working at Toymota, sharing the A38/A50 roundabout with the T-Sport psycho nutter display team, I couldn't wait for my missus to achieve her Ann Summers company car. I've got my own Triumph now - with 4 wheels and 16 valves, but no roof...

it only takes few to spoil it for the rest, yes bikers can and do travel at the proper speed limits

i guess car drivers are just Sooooo responsable sticking to all laws about driving, ka drivers doing 90+,cars sitting in the middle lane doing 60,stereos so loud they can't hear the police sirens, i could go on but even i know it only takes few to mess things up.

i quite happily sit at the speed limit concentrating on the road knowing that if i wanted to i could just overtake some idiot car driver weaving in and out of lanes while trying to turn up the stereo,

i wish everyone had to ride a moped when they learnt to drive, just imagine how alert you would be as a car driver!!

I am a car driver and a motorbike rider, I have a "hothatch" car and as some of you describe a "crotch rocket" Bike. I have seen the roads through both opinions as many of you also have and the point is ITS NEVER GOING TO CHANGE!! stop arguing everyone please. Yes bikes are dangerous and so are cars. but i would rather live life my way and know that i did the things i enjoy. I think there will always be silly poeple on the roads (either on a bike or in a car) at the end of the day we have to look after ourselves and loved ones as best we can.
Ratty - A ground anchor is a steel device like a hoop or somthing that u can pass a chain through, its bolted or cemeted into the ground so it gives your bike or garage equipment an imovable object to bolt to. I shall also get some pictures of the welding talble ASAP

Only bikes I've ever had are BMX's & mountain bikes!... had some pretty nasty accidents on those though, at 30 odd mph - never mind a hundred & 30 odd miles an hour! Must be a real buzz.
Each to their own though, live & let live and all that.

Utter rot, if you obey the speed limits the yellow boxes are just furniture. We all speed at times, I've been got, believe me I was ****** off but I didn't complain about the ticket; break the law, pay the price. It made me more careful, maybe one less nasty accident caused.

Do you hate speed limits? Traffic lights and pedestrian crossings? Cyclist and horses? or anything else that prevents the god-like car drivers behaving just as they please on the roads that are heavily subsidised by the Government.

The easiest way of getting rid of the cameras that are there to raise revenue is for everyone went past them at a legal speed. Use your intelligence. The satnav program on my phone has all the cameras as points of interest, and I can set it to warn me.

I suspect the real reason that cameras are hated is that they catch too many of 'us' (so-called decent law abiding citizens) and not enough of 'them' (robbers, murderers, pedos, etc)
