A newb question

Looking at a clarke 230V 130 Amp Tig welder.

It says that the electrodes which can be used are from 1.5 to 4.0mm Diameter.

So roughly what thickness metals can be welded??

The Miller TIG calculator can tell what you will need.

Looks like a 3/16" or 4mm max but weld, less for fillets.

Its not so much tungsten size that will limit material thickness as power output.

With 130 amps you can weld just about anything, but your set will only stay at max output for a short time before cutting out, I spend most of my time welding at around 120 - 140 amps on 8 to 10mm stainless and I use a 300amp set.

Duty cycle is the limiting factor.
