A new Renault for me

Just acquired a new toy a Renault but hopefully it's not going to be like brokenbikers Meganne.
It's a 1964 Renault Goelette 4x4 ex French army ambulance.
Body seems pretty good, loads of oil leaks on the running gear and engine. So plenty of gasket making and Google translate over the next couple of weeks.

hopefully won't have to touch the inside it's still got the two original stretchers inside so its ideal to use as an occasional camper

Did you see James May on The Peoples Car? Episode 2 was on micro cars and featured a piece on the Renault 4 and the Citreon 2CV including the military versions they produced. Plus a gratuitous bit of violence when they tested how they would fare under fire!

no I didn't see that I'll have to look that episode up.
It needs the standard welders mug for scale it's massive 2.80m high just under 2m wide and 4m long

It will probably be fine, no electrics and the oil leaks stop it rusting underneath, ask and Land Rover owner.

I will definitely never be buying another French car again. German or jap next. Its a toss up between a bmw 5 series or a hilux

I was looking for a 50's panel van but the price of the yanks was extortionate most with glass missing or no running gear. British were like hens teeth. Then this came along 12 months mot free tax and cheap insurance.

and ok as a meat wagon to cart u off to hospital if u have an accident
