a little confused

on a mig welder what does

the power control do ie deeper penetration or what ?is this ampage ?
what does the wire feed button control?? weld width or hight and is this voltage

or am i away on another tangent ????

power control adjusts welding voltage
wire feed knob is for the speed at which the wire is fed

Power control is voltage, more voltage is more heat basically.

Wire feed controls controls the speed of the wire exiting the torch.

The wire speed controls both the wire speed and amperage.

The wire speed controls both the wire speed and amperage.

Wire speed (not necessarily the control), controls the amperage, as do other factors, such as wire size, stickout, gas type etc.

Voltage is set, amps are variable.

When welding you can increase the power (heat = Watts = amps x volts), by bringing the torch closer to the weld. The amps rise.
