A little bit of stainless

Don't think i've posted this before.. 350+ stainless brackets made up from 25, 20, 12 and 10mm thick plate, laser cut and pressbraked. 250x150x10 stainless RHS brought in from overseas. About 35T in total.

These hold up some very large and very heavy overhead precast concrete beams on collanade walkways on a certain very large job in East London, 15M above street level.

6mm CFW, 10% DPI, and to Execution Class 3. A good few days of drilling holes and milling slots

6mm continuous fillet welds with 10% dye pen inspection (NDT of the welds to look for cracks or other surface nasties)

Holes with a mag drill, a big one.

Presswork is good, considering they had been backbent first they were very accurate.

Did you do the milling in-house? Why not laser the slots?

Tried to get the RHS tube lasered but no one had one big enough in the UK. Jaw size wasn't a problem, but none could deal with 10mm thick SS.
Milling done on the old faithfull Bridgeport.

The slugs from the drilled holes can be quite useful for table leg flanges....

Mag drill stuck to a mild steel table, ss clamped below it.

I've had 10mm cut at Premier laser Corby, they do all my laser cutting, it was plate not Box section, don't know if that would make any difference though

Plate not a problem to get laser cut - ours will do 35mm. None of the big tube laser boys could touch the RHS. Shame as it would have saved a lot of messing.

Nice, that would have been my choice too. Trying to convince my lot to splash out on some decent broaching type drilling gear.

You can get vac bed drills... or a little pad thing that suckers onto stainless then just uses the magnet as norm.

Box was 250x150 so it wouldn't fit in their machine.
