A larger weld pool needed

Hi Guys

How do I get a larger weld pool? I'm welding Kombi metal so its pretty thin and im using a gas mig with 0.6mm wire - when im spot welding the spots are really small which make it hard to bridge the gap in some areas...

If you are spot welding through a small hole into another sheet beneath - try just moving the torch very slightly in a tiny circle to spread the pool. If you need to get more heat into the work without burning through then try backing the work with a piece of copper (some people use flattened water pipe).

Either turn the wire and volts up, use bigger wire or keep the trigger pulled longer.

Is it the metal they make Kombis from ? (VW camper)
If you are welding through one panel into another you should try a bit bigger hole in the front panel and there should not be a gap between the panels you need the panels tight together.

Yes kombi metal is VW bay window metal, about 0.8mm I think (I've been living in Oz too long!). I'll try your suggestions, cheers.
