Rule of thumb with belt grinders and linishers is 1hp per 50mm of belt width if you want to do any serious work with them but anything will work if you don't press on too hard.

it isnt industry the original 4inch lynisher i copied off had a half hp motor fitted as standard and u can virtualy sit on it and it will still pull it over
