i need something like a lathe plate a largish type of one its not really been spun up to a high revs but does need to be straight or ground straight

i dont know the weight of them but would prefer a lighter weight to a degree as it would affect the item its being used for but also needs to be strong enough to bolt something to this plate before usage
revs low 60 rpm or lower i think im looking at
is it worth buying one or making one up
if making one id be using something like 5mm/10mm angle iron but id like something as wide as 20" across it

any difference between a grinding cup wheel vs a grinding wheel other than having to balance it on its arbor before usage
i understand it needs diamond trimming to straighten it
but which one is better to use ?
