A container wanted for oil dipping

I've been asked to do some hot blacking, if that's the correct term, heating a steel item until very hot and dropping it into veg oil or the like. I'd like something about the size of a catering bean tin but with a removable and sealable lid, I don't want to have an open tin of oil on the bench, nor do I want the faff of pouring the oil back into the bottle. Maybe a rag bin?

Any suggestions?

get a scrap steel sink its wide and large enough for many long things and because its metal its better

the one advantage you can drain it down using the plug hole and refill when needed saves knocking or spilling that oil all over the place

For small parts I just keep a metal coffee can the kind with plastic lid, there is a couple of inches of old oil out of the Vito.

I bought one at the car spares shop where they use them in the mixing bay. Oil doesn't glue the lids on like paint so they are good. They have little clips for added security.
