A c tig welding questions

With ac tig welding you can hear the erratic type pulsing sound. when you
put the tungstone closer the sound stopes. where would you position the
tugstone so close that the noise stops or further away still getting the pulse
type sound hope ive made sense ocean

Close to focus the arc. Farther out it will wander and the arc is not stable.

You want to be listening for a nice constant purrrrrring sound....bout tungsten diameter away from work is about right IMHO...
