A bit of advice will you?

I am new to the welding game well kinna i have done it for at least 6 munths now but that was just at my coop for school any way i want a welder to screw around on i was thinking of a millermatic 175 hopfully deazle if your can give me any tips about elding i will aprecheat it

Hi Justin, a couple of questions, what will you be doing, mild Steel, stainless steel plate thickness etc, your manual will give a guide, There are many books on the subject, these run from basic welding to advanced welding.
Get to know your machine and mostly take your time, I have noticed in the forum that a lot of rubish, short cuts and misinformation is given, should you read such information check it out first and confirm that the information given is correct, if you realy want the true basics then enroll in a night class, then you will know which way to go. Miller have some exerlent books, video's and leaflets on the subject go to their web site also Hobart, the American Welding Institute. Lincoln Welding and so on. always concider the safety aspect both in the fabrcation of the part and yours and other safety procedures. anything else lets know,
