8x4 trailer

I am just about to start making a trailer. A teardrop but something that looks right behind a landrover. It will need to be IVA tested and hopfully under 750kg although I will be fitting a hand brake.
Im looking for advice on steel for the chassis. I need to kerp the wright down but also want it safe.
Does anybody know the thickness of the steel that Phoenix trailers use. They look quality.
Im thinking of 70mm x 50mm x 3mm box for the tongue and 70mm x 40mm x 2.5 for the chassis rails.
Any advice gratefully accepted.

If you are sneaky you can go and 'view' some trailers with a tape measure...but when you get caught they get offended...it's why I'm not welcome at my local ifor dealer...

As for the handbrake, be prepared that if it has brakes, they must work and that means they must also work as normal brakes, not just the hand brake

if you are keeping it below 750kg, which i dont quite understand as even my freelander can tow 2000kg, and my disco could tow 3500kg, i would try and avoid brakes at all costs to avoid any issues down the line...

also, where are you getting 70x40x2.5mm RHS from? that seems a pretty obscure size

50x25x 2mm thick is sufficient for the platform and 50x50 for the tongue if your staying under the 750kg mark as too not require brakes. another option is too fit a motor mover and it can act as a handbrake too.

a mover would be a better option for a brake...

i assume as a teardrop was mentioned its to be a camper of sorts? if it were i would consider 4 folding legs, than can not only be used as a 'brake' but also for levelling
