Hi Again
I have just come in from playing with my new TIG and hopefully am getting used to it. I have made plenty of mistakes but now I need to weld a stainless steel exhaust flange 8mm thick onto the end of my stainless steel pipe which is 2mm thick. I have cut a very tight hole for the pipe to pass through the flange but can only weld on the inner face (engine side) of the flange to the end of the pipe. I have been using the settings from the tutorial on this site but they only go up to 3mm ?
I plan to weld around the lip without filler to start with and then add filler on the second pass then grind the flange flat.
What settings /tungsten/rod/amps should I use ?
Should I V out the flange slightly to leave space for more filler ?
Is my R-Tech 165 powerful enough to do this ?
Thanks
Pete
