Hi folks, I've read a whole bunch of threads on this (from a variety of forums) but still not been able to find the answers I'm looking for.
http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-mcb1155hd-swivel-head-metal-cutting-bandsaw
I've drawn up a very crude Microsoft Paint image to help explain what I mean. On the model of Axminster swivel head bandsaw I got the other day the guide bearings nearest the motor only move up and down but the bearings furthest away from the motor move up and down and side to side. The things I don't understand are:
What height position should the bearings be against the blade - near the teeth, in the middle of the blade or near the blade support bearing? (Top right drawing)
Should the left and right bearing be at the same height or can they be uneven? (Bottom left drawing)
The bearings that are furthest away from the motor can be adjusted side to side as well as up and down. When you adjust them side to side to bring them in towards the side of the blade they come in at a slight angle, does it matter if the complete face of the bearing doesn't touch the side of the blade? (Bottom right drawing)
I've knackered the two standard blades it came with but I've ordered a bi-metal blade which is coming in the post (not cheap) so I'd like to get my act sorted on this before I ruin that one too!
The model of saw I got was an Axminster MCB1155HD, but as I understand all makes are the same machine with different paint jobs, so I assume the bearings will probably work the same on other machines.
Cheers for any help
