6mm thick box section 150 amp welder - non load bearing

I've got a good deal on a 4 meter peice of 100x100x6mm box and am going to build a strongman yoke out of it,
the main cross beam and weight horns will have holes drilled into the box section then welded so i am not worrid about the strength of that,
i will be using a t joint? weld to put the bottom feet on, theese wont be holding any actual weight, will 150amps be enough to keep it together?

I have a Migatronic Rally Mig160 and I've built a set of forks for the front of my tractor out of similar, my have been 75x75 and I have managed to bend the box section without breaking the welds so I guess it may be ok.

I've also built a log splitter using scrap 6x4 and 6x6 RSJ and managed to bend/twist that too with a heavy offset loading, all welds still intact

I'm sure one of the more expert welders will be able to give you a more technical answer.

I'd say yes, with a decent chamfer on the edges to be welded and 0.8 wire. Cut a few small bits of box and to a test (whack 10 bells out of it with a lump hammer).

one last question,
i cant drill the holes myself and will be getting a fab shop to do so,the piping i will be using is 48.3mm od, whats the nearist size hole i should ask for so i can weld up inbetween the pipe and box

They may well plasma cut the holes if they do not have the correct drill or if they have a CNC plasma. anything up to 50mm to allow for the variation in the tube which could be up to 1.0mm and you will get better penetration with a bit of a root gap.
