6mm Plate

Does anyone know what I could make some 275mm square by 6mm thick plates from? Parker Steel want £111 for a 1m x 2m sheet and that would leave me a lot left over (I only want 3 off). On ebay a chap offered me stainless for £45 delivered which seems a good price but I just don't need stainless and could do with it being cheaper. So is there something similar that I could modify? Scaffold tower base plates ? Or is there something added to RSJs that are about the right size?
Any pointers on this would be much appreciated.

pop down scrapyard or ferret in small engineering works skip thats where i get mine from

You would be better off finding a local fabricator or sheet metal shop that are using 6mm plate, small pieces like that are often no more than off cuts and end up in the scrap.

I bought flat bar instead of plate, you should be able to get it in 300mm x 6mm.

Along the same lines, my local stockholder will sell offcuts/part sheets, for the same price per square meter - unlike some suppliers who put a premium on low order values/sizes.

Best dive in the yellow pages, I'm sure there will be someone suitably local to you.
