anyone interested in seeing some of the small amount of work i have done on a bug ! plenty of welding practice if nothing else !
how it looked at the start , dark night dragged out of a lockup


the reality when i finally got under it properly

yep it had been bitten quite badly , but there are plenty parts available !

main structure for front suspension


by this time the gf had found out i had a bug and the immortal words ooh i always wanted one of them were spoken so , decision is made and complete refurb required , if her and my grandkids are going in it , it's got to be right !
so ,
new framehead fitted

and old floor pans removed

been at it a while now , around 6 month i would say , but been doing other things during it ! it's pretty close to finished now

cleaned and ready for welding and new floorpans



galv spray on before plug welding new pans on



new napoleons hat fitted at same time !then on with first side







new subframes made up for a set of audi tt leather heated seats , then welded in place of old seat runners


then everything sprayed with spray galv again !

then sprayed in 2k super black






beam and g box and axle all done in same paint



then on with sound deadening !

ive had enough looking through pics tonight , more tiring than welding the bloody thing !

That's going to be as good as new when you're finished.
At least Beetles come apart easily......

Impressive stuff Mike. Like SBF says it's gonna be brand spanking. It didn't look as good as that when it left Deutschland

cheers guys , it's currently being painted /wet sanded polished , then it's time to put it together again properly !

Aye that got me as well Andy but if you click on the picture and let it load in photobucket's site you can click on the magnifying glass above the picture to see a much larger version. I'd do a screenshot to show you but I'm on a restricted connection and don't get access to photobucket.
