65mm Pipe needed

Hi All,

I'm restoring a cast iron lampost and the mounting boss on the top is missing. my plan is to make a new one and bolt it on to the top.

Anyone got a bit of 65mm (2.5") Pipe they would like to sell me? I can only get 3m lengths on line. (60 - 70mm Dia would do).

Why weld it? Resin anchor would probably do a pretty good job. Somthing like Rawlplug R-KEM II.

Its going to have to hold this on top of it 3m off the deck.

I think 2" nominal bore pipe is around 65mm O.D. Would have to check it.

2.5-3 inch is exhaust pipe size I think...might be able to get an exhaust section in short length on evil bay maybe.

2" Nominal Bore pipe is 60.33mm OD (plus/minus whatever the tolerances are). 2 1/2" Nominal Bore pipe is 73.03 plus/minus tolerances.

2" pipe should be dead common (IME, it's common enough that I don't bother hoarding it unless it's stainless). If you can live with that, it's the way to go. There are several different wall thicknesses available.

2.375" or 70mm OD seems pretty hard to find: I've been keeping half an eye out for a couple of metres for a couple of years to convert a Kerry drill from bench to pillar.

I think I've got a length of 70mm solid bar if you are anywhere near Frome.

If you are going to make a new boss, then scaffold pole is a whisker over 48mm o/d. You would probably get a short s/hand piece from a local scaffolding firm, just grind off the galv' before welding.

Bricks are about 3 inches tall, you might have to take your shoes of to count correctly......

@Pilgrim22 I will have a lump of 2" steam pipe which as said is 61mm ish od, or in the scrap pile is a old hydraulic cylinder with a od of 73mm which I could chop a bit off for you.
