6061 is more of a Septic flavour, not that common here and you usually have to pay a massive premium for it from aerospace suppliers etc
6082 is basically the European equivilant and if anything "better" although they're both very similar composition. Most decent stockholders should offer it in sheet, shate and plate albeit often in a smaller range of thickness & sheet sizes than stuff like 1050, 5251 and 5083
Extrusions are virtually always 6082 with some sizes also available in 6063... if it's for making brackets etc then flat bar is often a cheaper & more convenient way to buy it, IIRC 1/8" and thicker will be 6082-T6 and 1/16" flat bar is usually 6063-T6 but probably doesn't exist in widths > 1.5"

Thanks guys. Yeah, it seems that 6061 is more of an American thing while 6082 is more European. I know Aalco do it but I only need 600 x 600mm. I've just found a company online, Materials4me, that supplies it in small sizes. All of the others that supply in small sizes only do 1050.
