6 years later...

Well after joining 6 years ago and having done about 4 welds in those 6 years I'm finally trying to get in to welding now that I'm not just a nipper and can afford to buy my own kit.

Picked up a 175TE locally recently, just need gas and regulator and some bits and bobs and I'll be off! Looks like the BOC deal is the best way to go depending on how much welding I do, but at least for 1 year it seems the smart thing to do.

Anyway thought I'd say hello before I start asking all the usual "what am I doing wrong" questions, so HELLO Located in near oxford now, a bit far from Glasgow - better update my profile.

4 welds in 6 years How long were those welds ? They'll be coming thick and fast once you get set up no doubt,it's a bit of an addiction to start with finding things to use it for.

Yeah I think once I can do it well enough I'll use it more than I think. I've got a project car on the go that needs some body work and I'm not going to do the major stuff myself as it'll add another year to the project, but I'll be able to do bits and bobs when it comes to putting it all back together.

What's the project car? There someone on here with just about anything ever made I reckon, so it will be followed with interest. Post photos of the tricky bits & keep us all posted.

At this rate I'll be another 6 years!!! Just finally done a weldequip order and will try to call BOC this week to get underway!

My project is a rusty ford, not a classic I'm afraid but a Ka that we've had in the family since 97, having been modified extensively over the years I'm going back to standard on the outside (better as I'll seal it up so it doesn't rust again!) and then put it back together as a toy car / track car. Got all the bits really just need a good shell for it all, then I can be over and done with it and move on Can't let it defeat me!!! I'd risk the body work myself if it wasn't for the fact that it'll add another year to the program and I've done no welding, never mind body work and since I want it to be right I'm going to stick to sticking in engines etc. and leave the bulk of the bodywork to a pro, that's not to say I wont do some donkey work myself.
