6.5J 14 et 30 steel wheels

I thought they would be easy to find, so far the cheapest second hand one I can find is £100.

Can anyone suggest a source.

Needs to fit a merec 5 bolt hub?

It's a r107 1970s SL, been looking in all the usual places, slshop wanting £800 for a set Mercedes even more, thankfully I already have the hub caps.

Hi, Those are alloy's not steels. A similar question came up on another forum with someone asking for steel wheels for a Merc, it was suggested to try the German Ebay as it's more common to have steel wheels for the winter tyre set.

I'll try that again, had trouble doing it on my phone. It's got 15 inch flat face alloys on just now and was originally supplied with the Mexican hat alloys but I like the classic hub cap look.

I'm guessing they're rare/relatively spendy because most of the larger engined models that would've been fitted with 14 x 6.5 wheels were usually specced with alloys? Way more common in 14 x 6 (and maybe even 14 x 5.5) as they were fitted to everything MB made at the time?

Dunno if it'd yield more results but may get cheaper ones if you look for w126 wheels (or search by part #) because AIUI all of the 14 x 6.5 steel wheels have a w126 part # (a126 400 07 02)? The PCD & centre bore is the same for all MB car stuff and everything from that era used the same m12 x 1.5mm bolts, only wheel ET varied with width/model fitment

I'm more suprised that the SLshop were cheaper than MB... like a lot of MB breakers/specialists they often advertise used parts, especially on the bay, for more £££ than they can be be bought new from MB

Longshot but if you haven't already tried them then 3 pointed parts (Rob Parker) is worth a call and i'd also try Starpartz on the off chance they've got some tucked away somewhere. Not what you're looking for but personally i'd be hunting for some "pentas" (made by several different manufacturers & commonly called AMG pentas or Ronal pentas although AIUI the origional and only 'real' penta was made by ATS?)

Wouldn't suprise me, plenty of bits on my s124 have an r129 or a201 prefix and others got superceded by 202 parts. Dunno if they existed in 6.5" widths before the 126 was introduced but if they did some early wheels might have a 107 or 108 or 116 prefixed part number?
By the looks of things part number for 14 x 6 ET30 steels is a126 400 06 02 and either way they're probably also more common due to the winter wheels/tyres thing mentioned?

Realistically I would have to go for the Falkans or nexen (£71
£55) as the mitchelins and vredestein are both a crazy price.

An option would be 6 inch wheels but just wouldn't feel comfortable with that.

Given my current resto will take 18months I've got plenty time to search, I'll try the suggestion above.

Another reason to put some pentas on it Definatly less choice but the cost depends a lot on the size/load index/speed rating... dunno what the deal is with a 500sl but my old s123 took 195/70r14 91T which are just under £60ea for Dunlop, Bridgestone or Michelin from the likes of Camskill. Higher load and/or speed ratings is where it usually gets difficult/spendy for old stuff/uncommon sizes
