57mm Pipe or Tube?

I had to cut the Rotary Clothes Dryer (AKA Whirlygig) post to take it with us.

I measure it as 57.6mm OD and 2mm wall thickness.

Googling I keep getting 57mm/2 1/4" stainless exhaust tube at 1.75mm thick.

Anyone know the nearest standard sizes readily available? I need about 750mm.

An ID of up to 60 mm could be made to work quite easily with slivers of sheet as packers.
Any larger would start to look a bit clumsy I think.

Advice?

This isn't a little cheapy from the DIY shed. It's a very large heavy-duty commercial-scale one = 2mm wall thickness! And the (UK) manufacturer went out of business over a quarter of a century ago so I can just buy a replacement which would have been my first option. Cost be damned!

Piece is to either but weld to the original or sleeve over it. Don't want to go smaller and sleeve into it. SWMBO can peg an amazing weight to the thing. (and the boys and I might have been known to hang body panels off it to let the paint dry in the sun)

But who on earth uses 2 1/2" Sched 40?? That's as much an orphan size as 5". We only used:

If I had to guess, given that it's UK made and the company went OOB 25 years ago, I'd say that you have 2 1/4" OD x 14swg.

Got it! Nominal 2 1/4 actual 57.2mm and 2mm wall thickness.

But:

5800mm length and £107 plus delivery and VAT etc.

At least I know what to ask for.

Have a look at 63.5mm od stainless exhaust pipe, most of it seems 1.5mm wall but I have an offcut which has 2mm wall giving 59.5mm internal

It was bought in 1m lengths about 6 or 7 years ago so I will have to ask where from

No Tube stationary, top of Whirlygig spins on the static pipe.

An offcut of the nNominal 2 1/4 actual 57.2mm and 2mm wall thickness will be perfect.

No3 son will order a 1 metre length of nominal 2 1/4" 2 mm wall 304 SS exhaust from his supplier.

No galvanized steel. I bought a length of exhaust from the local agricultural dealer and set that in the concrete. Greased the Whirlygig pipe and slipped it into the larger exhaust. pipe. It still corroded enough to prevent removal 30 years later.

This time I'll set the SS section directly into concrete keeping the welded joint above grade and well painted in Galvafroid.

Oh,ok, can you weld the two together then? It's not something I've tried.

I tried to remove the whirlygig from my garden two days ago and it had only been in 3 months, I got it out but it put up a fight!
